Putney’s redoubtable Soul Brother Records are set to release a wonderful, in-demand album from HANK BALLARD. BALLARD was a star way back in the fifties, and is maybe best known for the original version of ‘The Twist’. In 1968 the ‘ole twister found himself pacted to King Records where none other than label-mate, JAMES BROWN produced an album on him. Entitled ‘You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down’, the set, in its original vinyl incarnation, is extremely rare, but Soul Brother have managed to secure licensing rights and are re-issuing it on CD. The set contains the whole of the original LP along with a slew of bonuses including material that BALLARD and BROWN worked on together for the People and Polydor labels.
