For their latest 7”, ever dependable SOUL JUNCTION RECORDS rekindle their relationship with music biz hustler, Manny Campbell’s Emandolynn Music with a sweet and lovely 45 on TEARRA (real name Teah Louise)
Tearra hailed from Mobile, Alabama and in 1980, Campbell signed the then Teah Louise to his company with the offer of recording an album. However only two singles were released ‘You Happened To Me’ / ‘Got To Keep You Mine’ (released on Coastal) and ‘’Ooh Let This Feeling (Last A Long, Long Time)’/’Just Loving You’ (released on Midtown). To confuse things, the first single was credited to “Teeah-Louise”, the second to “Tearra”. Both the Coastal and Midtown releases were only ever pressed in 500 promotional copies and the promised album project never was never completed. The disappointed singer then quit the business after pressure from her husband!
In time-honoured fashion, both her singles became in-demand, with the track ’Just Loving You’ becoming particulary coveted, fetching four figures from those who could find a copy! Soul Junction licensed and released the song back in 2017 (as the B side to previously unissued Delights track ‘Listen To Me Girl’).
That reissue now fetches big bucks on the re-sale market, so the nice people @ Soul Junction are re-issuing it – this time as a bona fide A side, just what it deserves. Yes, ’Just Loving You’ is a lovely, mid-tempo soul groove that ticks all the required modern soul boxes…ditto, the B side! For that flip, SJ have gone with the aforeminded Teeah-Louise credited ‘You Happened To Me’ – another quality, modern soul groove, proving that the lady could’ve been a contender had her husband not made her quit music!
