The message in DONNY HATHAWAY’S classic 1973 ‘Someday We’ll All Be Free’, of course, wasn’t meant for these times, but in these times – troubled, difficult and worrying – its message has a special resonance, a resonance brought out beautifully in a new version by the L’ORCHESTRE PHILHARMONIQUE DE MONTE CARLO and some very special guests marshalled by bass maestro MARCUS MILLER. Playing/singing with Miller and the orchestra are artists from the worlds of jazz, soul and classical … amongst them Robin McKelle, Charles Pasi, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Neima Naouri, Yvan Cassar and Raul Midon.
All the players and singers recorded and filmed their individual contributions at their homes and after skillful editing the resulting five minute version is a magnificent and moving interpretation of the song. It’s prefaced by a short introduction from Prince Albert of Monaco who reiterates that we will all be stronger together… Donny would be proud.
