SOLO SLEDGE

Sister Sledge mainstay, DEBBIE SLEDGE has for the last several years been forging a successful solo career away from her siblings. Currently she’s working with acclaimed Danish jazz pianist NIELS LAN DOKY and his trio. Through 2015 they played something like 50 gigs in Denmark and now they’re bringing the show to the UK.

On Sunday 18th September the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Club will welcome Debbie and Niels for what’s being described as a “Sunday Jazz Lunch Special”. We’re told that the repertoire will include original songs and soulful/jazzy renditions of classics like Gene McDaniel’s ‘Compared to What’, Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’, James Brown’s ‘It’s A Man’s World’ and ‘There Was a Time’ and of course, ‘We Are Family’. Sneak previews of the music reveal something very different. We’ll wager you’ve never heard ‘There Was A Time’ like this before! Debbie says: “The great thing about working with Niels is that everything is possible; nothing is excluded”.

The Ronnie Scott’s show is scheduled for Sunday 18th September. Doors are at noon and the show will start at 1.00 pm. Tickets are priced £13.50 – £16.50 and lunch is optional. More info on 020 7439 0747.
