SOLO CHUCK….

cl

Ace guitarist CHUCK LOEB has taken a little time off from Fourplay to record a new solo album … though, maybe “solo” isn’t quite the right word. Yes the ‘Silhouette’ long player has Chuck’s name upfront, but like all worthwhile jazz albums the 10 tracker is an ensemble affair.

Helping out on the Moosicus released set are star players like Peter Erskine, Steve Gadd, Will Lee, Nathan East and Eric Marienthal. Together they create a great smooth jazz set that includes eight original compositions. Of note is the Wes Montgomery-inspired title cut and the swingin’ ‘Stompin” which was recorded with another outfit that Chuck plays with from time to time – the organ-led ‘Plain N Simple’. The more laid-back ‘JT’ is a tribute to James Taylor – a great favourite of Loeb’s. Mrs Loeb – (Carmen Cuesta) features on ‘Esta Tarde Vi Llover’ while their daughter, Lizzy, is on ‘My One And Only Love’ while other daughter Christina leads on ‘Las Eras’.

CHUCK LOEB’S ‘Silhouette’ is out now on Moosicus Records.
