DAVID HATTAB is a French musician who’s been in and around the Parisian dance and soul scene for a while now. In 2013 he teamed up with vocalist, bassist and keyboards man ETHEL LINDSEY to form a band called SPARKLES and they’re just released their debut single…..a very tasty slice of modern soul called ‘So Good’.
The song is out now on Futureplay Records and it has all the ingredients to make it a proper modern soul anthem. The flavour is retro (a hint of Chic about that bass line), the beats are tight, the melody’s catchy and the vocals are bob on. The duo sees the song as their “homage to the golden age of Boogie” and a diligent internet search will allow you to make up your own minds. However be assured, if you like retro grooves of the kind peddled by people like Cool Million, you won’t be disappointed by ‘So Good’ from Sparkles.
