CORNELL CC CARTER’S latest album, ‘Next Life’, rightly continues to do the business and to add a little more weight to what it’s achieved, the label, Izipho, is gearing up to release a new single from the set. It pairs two of the album’s more up-tempo cuts (though neither are that frantic!). They are ‘The Moment’ and ‘I’m Here’.
‘The Moment’ (mid-tempo, really) channels a distinct Norman Whitfield/ Marvin Gaye vibe and showcases CC’s silky vocal mastery. ‘I’m Here’ is a steady and stately groove with a killer bass line, but if you’re a proper soul fan, you’ll know that by now -that album will surely have been on replay chez vous!
