Last May Atlanta neo-soul man ANTHONY DAVID delivered a lovely single, – a rather special cover of BeBe & CeCe Winans eighties hit ‘Heaven’. And making the recording even more special, Anthony joined up with fellow Atlantean, ALGEBRA BLESSETT to make the cut an emotionally charged duet. The pair has previously collaborated ten years earlier but you wouldn’t know it. On ‘Heaven’ there was real duet chemistry!
Last June, ‘Heaven’ was blessed with a new mix – the “Amapiano Mix”. Production here was by Eddie ‘Cheat Code’ Stokes and the new, different treatment reflected the time Anthony spent in Africa and his love of Afrobeats and Afro house.
Now twelve months down the line ‘Heaven’ is back again in a new, “Namibian Sunrise” mix which takes the song further into Afrobeats territory. On this tweak Anthony and Algebra are joined by award-winning Namibian vocalist Taylor Jaye (also known as Jaleesa Gaoses), who has been building her career out of Namibia and Johannesburg. Her music, which is sung in one of the oldest and most unique African languages Damara, has earned her such accolades as Best House Music Award at the 2020 Namibian Music Awards.
The various ‘Heaven’ mixes are good to go now via Dome Records.
