Back in April we reported that SOUL DIRECTION were lining up the release of a three track 45 on cult group SHARISMA.
The quartet – two guys, two girls – were originally singed to Manny Campbell’s Philly Emandolynn Music set up. He recorded them and named them “Sharisma”, which could have been a play on the term “Charisma” as he suggested they were seen to have a certain charm. But when Uncle Sam drafted the group’s lead singer and sent him packing to Vietnam, Manny dropped the Sharisma project and the three tracks he’d cut on them sat in an unmarked tape box for many, many years until Soul Direction licensed them for release.
The songs are ‘Trouble Trouble’ (written by Campbell as a ‘letter’ to his firstborn son who at the time was getting into all kinds of trouble) – a typical early 70s Philly affair; ‘Something Wonderful’ a sort of sunshine pop/soul thing; and ‘Love Is The Way’ – a lovely, soulful harmony ballad. Three good ‘uns!
The team @ Soul Direction are now pleased to report that the vinyl on Sharisma is good to go. Learn more @ https://soul-direction.co.uk/
