The ever resourceful TRU THOUGHTS label is celebrating another great year by releasing their latest label overview compilation – ‘Shapes’. The album offers 29 contemporary cuts across 2 CDs and all the label’s big hitters are featured – NOSTALGIA 77, THE BAMBOOS, KYLIE AUDLIST, QUANTIC and ALICE RUSSELL among them. Between them they offer the best from the current Tru Thoughts catalogue and there are also a handful of exclusive remixes and tunes that were only previously available in limited format editions.

One of the big tunes is ‘Heroine’ from WILD COOKIE (FREDDIE CRUGER and ANTHONY MILLS). Originally released in 2011 on the album ‘Cookie Dough’, the cut’s found lots of favour amongst the more sophisticated and broad-minded soul crowd and it still sounds good… and that’s one of the attractions of this collection – it throws up some great little memory jerkers alongside lots of exciting and innovative sounds.
