SEXUAL HEALING?

Soul veteran MICHAEL B SUTTON impressed with his summer soul chart rider, ‘Band Aid For A Broken Heart’. No surprise for those who knew Michael’s CV. You see, for many years he was a Motown background boy – working  as writer/producer with people like the Originals, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson and Dennis Edwards. Then in the early noughties he released an acclaimed solo album, ‘Hopeless Romantic’.

Mr S  returns now to the fray with the official follow up to ‘Band Aid For A Broken Heart’. The title of his new song pulls no punches – it’s  simply called ‘Sexual’  and it’s already climbing the official soul charts.

As well as taking lead vocal and playing keys, Michael wrote, produced and engineered the cut while his wife Anissa handles the BVs. Josh Sklar is on guitar, James Manning on bass, Timbale Cornwell on percussion and Hiroshi Upshur adds extra keys. He  also arranged the vintage synthesized horns and strings which gives ‘Sexual’  a sort of  Stevie Wonder ‘Superstition’ “bouncy” feel. The song is full of intrigue and listen up to the clever “catch” towards the end.

We believes that ‘Sexual’ and indeed ‘Band Aid For A Broken Heart’ will feature on Michael’s upcoming album. Our man’s clearly in no hurry. The LP will be his first since the aforementioned ‘Hopeless Romantic’. What’s  20 years between friends?
