A few days back we featured a single from OUTPUT/INPUT – a multinational band of music biz vets. Their tune was a delicious cover of the Isley Brothers’ ‘Here We Go Again’. This new version featured a twin lead vocal from Audrey Wheeler and Brent Carter and there was obvious chemistry between ‘em (see our news item)!
We mentioned that the song would be good to go from this Friday 8th April. The label’s Expansion (soul quality assured, of course) with vinyl on the way. The Expansion team have just let us know that the 7” will feature a rousing, weekender throwback ‘Eye To Eye’ on the B side. That flip (that’s what we called B sides in the old days) features a powerful vocal from Sharon Pearson. Best way to describe the track is to say that it’s a typical “Expansions tune”… the mix is dubbed “Luxury Soul” – a nod to Expansion’s successful compilation series. The modern soul crowd who revere the label will know that what we’re banging on about here is contemporary and upbeat music with its roots in the great days of the soul clubs. Whatever, it’s a very strong outing and makes the upcoming vinyl release a proper double A sider!
