SEE YOU!

It’s fitting that at the start of the year that Philadelphia International Records will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, old school soul master mixer MARTIN SHAW has chosen a 24 carat Philly classic for his latest project … LOU RAWLS’ ‘See You When I Git There’.

The Gamble/Huff classic first appeared on Lou’s 1977 LP, ‘Unmistakably’ and has been a sophisticated soul favourite ever since.

Shaw’s new mix – out digitally via Bandcamp – retains all the classic Philly flavours but lengthens the intro while losing the spoken part and adds just a touch of new magic by highlighting the gorgeous strings and percussion. Like lots of classic, old soul sides, the mix is featured in two parts, 1 and 2 – just like it would have been on an old 7” vinyl disc.
