Some of you out there may remember a 2010 soulful outing, ‘Abigail’ from a collective known as BLACK SAUCE, (essentially Julian Bendall (Bah Samba), Ricky Reid and The DJ Kid Creole). It was a good ’un and in case you missed it, it’s soon to be back amongst us via two mixes from Mannix and the North Street West team.
North Street West (Ashley Beedle, Jo Wallace and Darren Morris) discofy the tune with sweet strings and some classy brass stabs while Austria’s meister mixer Mannix continues the disco vibe. Just a little smoother, there’s a subtle Chic flavour (not too obvious), mellow keys and some lovely trumpet parts. Both tweaks, wisely, keep the soulful warm vocal way up in the mix.
