Veteran Philadelphia saxophonist SAM REED died on Thursday July. Few details are currently available save that Reed was aged 85.
Though hailing from South Carolina, Reed became a key figure on the Philly soul and jazz scene, and he played on countless records by the roster @ Philadelphia International Records. He was also MD for Teddy Pendergrass. Prior to his time with Gamble and Huff, Sam was bandleader at Philly’s famed Uptown Theatre.
