The knowing UK soul crowd know all about London-based indie soul man DAPAUL. His debut solo album, ‘Soulful Spirit’ won our man plenty of friends while his Christmas single ‘London Town’ earned plenty of seasonal spins.
DaPaul is set to make a welcome return at the end of July with the release of a five track EP ‘In the Sun’. The title track is a bumpy modern soul groove with an optimistic edge. We’re told that its theme is “about a personal journey as an individual and independent artist; the triumph over obstacles and adversity and celebrates that your independence, is not so much focused on your success but more in your faith, to believe in your given purpose no matter what others might think.” In short: “happiness is not a destination but a journey.”
One of the EP’s other key cuts is a summer mix of ‘London Town’. On it DaPaul simply and cleverly switches the Christmas references to summery ones and it really works…a great paean to summer in the city…. a city that Da Paul loves with a passion.
DaPaul loves London so much that he says that ‘London Town’ will be the title track to his new album – pencilled in for an October release. DaPaul will also be launching a Crowd Funding Campaign in the near future to enable the production of that new music.
