US sources are reporting the death of soul man RUDY LOVE. Few details are available save that Rudy was 73 and had been suffering with pancreatic cancer. He will be best remembered for fronting his family group Rudy Love and the Love Family. But he began his career as a writer (Little Richard recorded some of his songs) and for a time he worked with Motown as a demo artist. In his career he worked with people like Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Carlos Santana and Sly and the Family Stone. Rudy worked with Sly on his album ‘Crossword :Puzzle’
Perhaps Love’s most famous song is ‘This Song is For You’. A native of Wichita, the city fathers named July 21st “Rudy Love Day” in his honour!
