ROBIN McKELLE – A MUSICAL ODYSSEY…

Acclaimed US jazz and soul singer ROBIN McKELLE is embarking on an ambitious musical journey for 2025. She’s calling her exciting, new project “DUOS”. We’re told that over the year she’ll be releasing 12 new recordings – one every month. On each one she will be accompanied by  a very special guest. She tells us that the aim of the project is  to “create  a harmonious convergence of musical diversity and emotive storytelling by stripping back the layers of production”.

And that’s exactly what she’s done on the first release on this remarkable journey – an emotional cover of the oft-recorded song, ‘Everything Must Change’. The tune  (written by Bernard Ighner) first appeared on Quincy Jones 1974 ‘Body Heat’ LP and with real poignancy Ms. McKelle recorded her version  on November 3rd last year – the day that Jones died.

The duettist on this new and moving version is garlanded pianist and sometime Maxwell MD, SHEDRICK MITCHELL who has regularly worked with Robin, most notably on her ‘Alterations’ album.  Between them, the pair create an intimate but passionate tapestry that offers a new perspective on this soul and jazz classic

Robin McKelle’s ‘Everything Must Change’ is good to go now via your preferred platform  and we look forward to the upcoming 11 “duos”!
