Earlier this year we were introduced to an enigmatic “new” vocalist who went by the name BLACK GIRL SINGER. We enthused about her single, ‘I Do Love You’ but her team told us very little about this passionate soulstress.
Yes, a bit of a mystery but our sleuths here @ SJF discovered that BGS wasn’t “new” at all. She was none other than veteran vocalist Lillie Nicole McCloud who has a slew of albums to her name. She was also the “Nicole” on Timmy Thomas’ 1986 evergreen ‘New York Eyes’. She also wowed the judges and the audiences on the 2013 season of American X Factor where she was eventually mentored by Kelly Rowlands and reached the last 8!
Boutique label, Izipho soul picked up on ‘I Do Love You’ and released it on vinyl paired with a truly soulful ‘Heart Of Hearts’.
Ms McCloud has now released a new, equally soulful single – ‘Riding With You ‘which her team describe as a “boom ballad” – grab a listen and you’ll understand exactly what they mean. It’s powerful and soulful and betrays the lady’s years of experience in the business. Right now this ‘Riding With You’ is a Bandcamp release.
