REMIX ROUND UP…..

alt

With the festive season just around the corner, plenty of the years’ big tunes have been given makeovers and re-mixes to ensure that parties, soul nights and club events have plenty to keep soulfully swinging right through into 2018! Here’s a quick look at just some of what’s around.

The rejuvenated CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD – with Ken Knox upfront –enjoyed lots of plays with ‘Reach Out 2 Me’. Originally released in 2015, the band recently toured the UK and the song was so well received that mix mesiter Nigel Lowis has just given it a new tweak – longer and with a whiff of Northern about it. Lowis is also at the controls on the Dig Band’s ‘We Bring The Party’ mix – the long-missed Dina Carroll at the mic here! Très Chic! The third new NL remix sees him add some new flavours to MATHER and KINGDON’S infectious ‘Soul Night’. If you want to investigate this catchy weekend anthem its dubbed the “All Night Mix”.

altSoul veteran, FREDERICK made pleasing waves with his new version of ‘Games’ – originally a big 80s tunes for him. It’s just been made available in a complex “NORTHSIDE” mix from ASHLEY BEEDLE and his team. This is available on vinyl via Ramrock Records.

alt… And finally, maybe the classiest of the latest remixes offers two from the wonderful JAMES DAY. Young Jimmy is set to release a new double A sided single with two new mixes of a brace of songs from his last, lovely album. One side offers the uplifting and gentle ‘Who Can Tell The Heart’. Tony Terry’s on vocals and the mix goes out as “The Groove Ltd” mix. The single’s “other side” is the much more energetic ‘Love Is My Bible’. Vocalists here are Audrey Wheeler, Sandra St Bernard and Karen Benod and the pace and power match the mix’s billing as “the Studio 54” mix – modern soul doesn’t get much more classier than this…
