As any died-in-the wool vinyl fetishist will know, it’s Record Store Day on Saturday April 16th. One of London’s premier independent record shops, Soul Brother, based in Putney, has some special events and releases on the day. UK soul stars, Natasha Watts and Tony Momrelle, who both have new records out (Natasha’s is her album ‘2nd Time Around’ and Tony’s is a Louie Vega mix on 10-inch vinyl of ‘All The Things You Are’). Both artists will be visiting the shop to do in-store promotions and signing sessions.
And for those wishing to catch a live performance, Tony Momrelle will be dropping into the Beer Boutique in Putney (just down the road from Soul Brother) at 4pm.
Soul Brother’s own label will be issuing two special vinyl editions on the day – Dee Edwards’ rare soul gem, ‘(If I Can) Deal With That,’ will be available as a limited eidtion 45 while cult singer Eleanore Mills has her collectable album from1974, ‘This Is Eleanore Mills‘ – featuring the brilliant ‘Same Routine‘ – reissued on LP with a bonus 45 included comprising the non-album tracks ‘Something On Your Mind‘ and ‘Singing The Blues,’ both hailing from the same timeframe.
