‘Harvest For The World’ is an undoubted soul classic. The 1976 Isley Brothers’ hit is an ever-present reminder of a major world problem… but sadly a problem that major world leaders choose to ignore!
To remind them, the song has just been re-recorded and released by the AVERAGE WHITE BAND and to give the release more clout and credibility, this version is produced by and features one of the song’s writers, CHRIS JASPER.
AWB’s Alan Gorrie describes why the band choose to record the song right now: “We thought this a timely record to make, as it addresses inequality, hunger, peace, and the need for tolerance and respect among us all, in a non – preachy way. It is also, coincidentally, a beautiful song and we thought the only way to give it the remake it required was to get Chris Jasper, the writer, on board to produce this new version and to give it an amalgam of AWB and The Isleys’ signature sounds.”
Chris Jasper says:, “Ernie Isley and I wrote the original ‘Harvest For the World’ in 1976. I enjoyed producing and arranging this new version for AWB and it turned out great…the message is still relevant today!”
