UK musician CHRIS KINGDON (both out on his own and with Stuart Mather) is well known for crafting, catchy foot tappers like his infectious, ‘On The Good Foot’ and his latest single delivers more of the same.
Tune in question is ‘We Can Touch The Samba Sky’ and , resorting to cliché, it’s one of those cuts that does exactly what it says on the tin! The optimism of the title is reflected in the big, Latin groove … the clue’s that little “samba” word.
The tune rides along on Latin percussion, a catchy keyboard riff, vocal interjections, a luscious vibes break la Roy Ayers and a soulful sax solo. Put it all together and you have a tasty slice of classic Brit Jazz-Funk. Out via Bandcamp.
