Soul connoisseurs will be licking their licks at the prospect of acquiring cult soul singer SPANKY WILSON’S collectible album, ‘Doin’ It,’ on freshly-minted vinyl.  Originally produced by H.B. Barnum in 1969 for soul-jazz organist Jimmy McGriff’s indie label, Mothers Records & The Snarf Company, the 11-track album gets it first ever official reissue on 180gm vinyl via the UK’s Soul Brother label. Pristine copies of the original LP can change hands for up to £200 but this reissue will be available for a tenth of that price. The album’s highlights include a funked-up and much-sampled version of Cream’s ‘Sunshine Of Your Love,’ plus the equally funky, ‘You,’ the jazzy ‘Don’t Mess With Bill,’ the slow gospel-infused ballad, ‘Who’s Sorry Now,’ and a fine mid-tempo called ‘That Love A Woman Should Give To A Man.’
