KOKO-JEAN & THE TONICS are a new(ish) soul and funk band from Barcelona. They’ve been active since 2021 and have a few singles and one album to their name. The band is fronted by Koko-Jean Davis who was the lead voice in Spanish band The Excitements who we last heard from via their well-received 2016 album ‘Breaking The Rules’
We don’t know how many of the Excitements make up the Tonics, but they deliver the same kind of energy-packed retro soul as evidenced by their current single ’The Spin’. It’s a frantic, up-tempo item influenced, the band say, by the music of people like Chubby Checker, Jackie Lee, Little Richard and the Capitols.
