PURE PLEASURE…

The latest release in Ace/BGP’s “Funk & Jazz Classics” series is ‘Future Now’ from PLEASURE. The band hailed from Oregon and they were brought to the attention of ex Crusader Wayne Henderson’s production company by Grover Washington Jr. Henderson got them signed up to Fantasy and they soon earned their spurs with funky, jazz-laced creations like ‘Joyous’, ‘Bouncy Lady’ and ‘Ghettos Of The Mind’ but major success eluded them.

For their fifth long player – ‘Future Now’ – the band decided to change direction. Using the studio engineer as producer, they crafted a heavy, synthesised futuristic sound… very sci-fi… a concept underlined by the cover art. The album yielded the band’s biggest hit, ‘Glide’. One more Fantasy LP followed before the band disbanded
