PRAISE DUE…..

Germany’s Tramp Records have just released the seventh volume in their eclectic series ‘PRAISE POEMS’. They say the idea behind ‘Praise Poems is to seek out and anthologise rare and esoteric indie soul and jazz and offer it as a challenge to what label bosses called “the bourgeois excesses of the soul and jazz-fusion genres”.

Agree or challenge that contention by investigating the new 17 track ‘Praise Poems’ collection. The artists are all new to me and most of the recordings come from small indie labels and production houses but for seekers of something a little different and/or unusual it’s worth an investigation. Standout cut is the catchy blue-eyed soul of ‘So Far Down’ from James Kelly Duhon while, if you like the song, there’s an unusual cover of ‘Summertime’ from Promotion Soul Concern.
