Over the last year or so, young Portuguese singer/songwriter MAYA BLANDY has made quite a name for herself with her undemanding, tuneful take on 80s soul and disco – you might have enjoyed her ‘Stardust’.
Maya has been mentored by JAKE WHERRY (founding member and producer of UK Hip-Hop pioneers, the Herbaliser) and Mr W’s at the helm for Maya’s first musical foray of 2025 – a sprightly and lively ‘Stay A Little Longer’.
The duo’s team tell us that the tune was “one of the first pieces of music that Jake wrote after buying a Roland Juno 60 plugin for his Akai MPC. Thus, instant 80’s sounds in abundance!” They add “that Jake took it in a slight Motown direction when he did a James Jamerson inspired bassline.”
