Not heard too much from top soulful house brand SOUL GROOVE for a while but they get into their 2021 stride with a corker from label boss SHAHEER WILLIAMS. His latest tune is the shifting, moody, insistent ‘Attention’ for which he uses the soulful vocal talents of Chicago’s SHEREE HICKS.
For this sort of “comeback” cut, Williams stuffs the track with all his trademark flourishes…. strong, key-led melody, punchy brass figures and percussive rhythms. For her part Ms Hicks gets it just right. Sweet when required, feisty as and when and a jazz nuance is never far away. ‘Attention’ offers intrigue and atmosphere and will keep feet tapping and heads nodding through whatever this damn lockdown throws at us!
‘Attention’ comes in the main mix, a dub, and an instrumental and for those lacking stamina – a radio edit! It will be released on Traxsource promo January 29th / Full release February 5th, 2021 on Soul Groove Records.
