Renowned soul drummer and educator, EVERETT COLLINS has died. Though few details are available, several US music sites are reporting his recent death.

In the soul world, Collins will be remembered for being the drummer (in the studio and on the road) with the Isley Brothers right through the 70s. After leaving the brothers’ band he went on to work with Surface. The group scored a big hit with the Collins’ song ‘You Are My Everything’.

With a degree in music education, Everett also worked as a music teacher and in the noughties he went into  that role full time  becoming a middle school music instructor and later Director of Bands at Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools.
