Here’s a proper cross frontier musical collaboration…. JAKSPIN’S ‘Party Girl’ EP. Jakspin, you see, is a DJ/producer of mixed Greek/German origin and to help him flesh out his creativity he’s enlisted young US soul man MALIK WILSON. Together they’ve put together an intriguing 7 track EP – though we need to say that there are only four songs – the title track – ‘Party Girl’ comes in four different mixes!
Jakspin has dedicated his music to the soul and funk sounds of the late 70s and early 80s, though his homages to that era are, to my ears at least, a little too electro. All the tunes were recorded in our man’s “Dreamland Studios” in South Germany and he says he’s trying to match 1982 and 2018 n a proper funky way.
