RUDY DE ANDA is a US singer/songwriter who though hailing from California now works out of Chicago where he’s lining up the release of a new album for late April release. The LP is ‘Closet Botanist’ (above) and it will be delivered via Colemine/Karma Chief Records.
Despite the California/Chicago location, ‘Closet Botanist’ was actually recorded in Austin, Texas at the Electric Deluxe recording studio. The space is owned and operated by Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas), who helped produce and engineer Rudy’s new LP. “In the past, I’ve done most of my recording in California,” Rudy explains. “The new location changed the vibe. The band and I were 100% focused on the process.”
The album’s first single has just been released. It’s ‘WYD’ and is a lovely chilled out, throwback sound… think, maybe, Thee Sacred Souls. We’re told that ‘WYD’ means “what you doing?” but it’s the warm, innocent soulful sound that’s the attraction… a lovely little item that bodes well for the album
