‘Open Up Your Mind’ is the new single from ever-dependable LOS CHARLY’S ORCHESTRA (Aka Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel). The cut is the band’s follow-up to their successful ‘Vibration’ and it’s a mellow, smooth, mid-tempo boogie groove. That said, the thing demands that heads nod, feet tap, hips sway – the lot!
The soulful vocal’s down to long time LCO collaborator Xantone Blacq while the tasty keys (Hammond and Rhodes) come via top muso Milt Mavrakakis. The deep bass is down to Matheus Nova while Raphael Delfino delivers rhythmic guitar. Mr Laya’s there on the insistent percussion while he co-produces with Mr Montiel. Between them the team cook up a special little dance groove that, in places, reminds me a lot of the best of Heatwave!
