Latest single from soul-jazz guitar maestro, DAVE MASCALL is a little different from what we’ve come to expect from him. Usually Dave serves up tasty jazz-inflected dance grooves – sometimes with a gentle house flavour . This time though the fret board maven offers a shimmering, soul ballad and helping him to deliver is supreme soul vocalist HARRY CAMBRIDGE who many will know from his Luther Vandross tribute shows.
On ‘Time Will Tell’ Dave encouraged Harry to “be himself” and he proves that in his own right he’s a proper soul contender! The tune is an insidious earworm with, in places (notably the intro), Dave’s guitar fills recalling the sadness of the guitar parts on the soul classic, ‘Rainy Nights In Georgia’. The track is enhanced by sweet backing vocals courtesy of Amy Baker.
