“Ona” is the Croatian word for “she”; it’s also the title of the new album from Croatian/American singer/songwriter THANA ALEXA. She tells us that the 10 tracker explores the complex them of what it means to be a woman. Ms A adds that the music is deeply personal reflecting her Croatian heritage and in truth much of the music (lengthy and experimental in places) is beyond our remit of “soul, jazz and funk”.

However a number of the tracks resonate with a soulfulness that might recall people like Norah Jones and Lindsey Webster… notably the songs ‘Set Me Free; and ‘You Taught Me’. The album also features an interesting take on Tears For Fears’ ‘Everybody Wants To Rule World. Out now.
