We were first introduced to THE PARK AVENUE EXPERIENCE via their 2020 smooth jazz album ‘Life Span’. We learnt that the Italian trio were the creation of Fabio Puglisi of Soul Basement fame. Now that band were known for old school soul vibes, introspective grooves and questioning lyrics but with the “Experience” Fabio offered something quite different… smooth jazz instrumentals with some subtle soul and hip hop sensitivities .’Life Span’ was followed in 2002 with ‘Structures’ which offered more of the band’s rather engaging sounds – smooth but never bland and always offering something relaxing and melodic.
The Park Avenue team have now released a third long player, ‘On The Verge’ and if you enjoyed the first two long players you won’t be disappointed here. The 9 tracker delivers the same relaxing vibes as on ‘Sunday Afternoon With You’ . The title here perfectly sums up the sounds – easy like Sunday morning, in this case, though, afternoon! Again with tune titles like ‘Bonheur De Vivre’, ‘Beyoind The Blue’ , ‘Down To The Ocean’ and ‘Closer To Your Heart’ you kind of know what you’re going to get and the trio deliver splendidly.
