Evergreen soul icon CHRIS JASPER has just released some very welcome new music – a gritty, funky ‘Be Number One’.
Chris’ team tell us that the inspiration behind the song is our man’s belief that if you put your mind to it anything is possible – everything can be achieved! And Chris has achieved quite a lot, hasn’t he? He was, of course, a member of one of soul’s legendary bands in their pomp; he’s forged a successful solo career; he’s secured a law degree; and, importantly, he’s part of a devoted and loving family!
Sonically, this new ‘Be The One’ is a mid-tempo funk growler. It’s driven by a powerful, insistent bass line reminiscent of many Isley Brother and Isley-Jasper-Isley classics while Chris’ vocal delivers in his special, very familiar way.
