THE SUPERTIGHTS are a French soul and funk band whose aim is to deliver “beats and grooves and their take on Spiritual Jazz”. Essentially, the group is the studio band of Qsounds Records and theie latest single delivers a new spin of the Paris Olympics, which begin this Friday.
Their song is ‘Impeach The Olympics’ -and you can guess from that title that the tune doesn’t celebrate or big up the event!. Rather, it’s a ponderous, 70s flavoured beater with spoken word lyrics from Lisa Melissa. The message in the music is that the Olympics is having a huge impact on the immigrant population , especially in and around the suburb of Saint Denis. It highlights the increase in fares on public transport, the soaring cost of hotel rooms, the increased police surveillance and the knock on effect for ordinary Parisians and specifically the really poor and the homeless.
We don’t think President Macron will be overpleased with this one. Out now. Interesting!!!
