Steve Okonski is the classically trained keyboardist with Durand Jones and the Indications but he also has a side hustle – a jazz trio that is called OKONSKI. His colleagues are bassist Michael Isvara “Ish” Montgomery and Indications’ drummer and sometime vocalist, Aaron Frazer and their album ‘Magnolia’ won plenty of support from those who prefer laid-back, chilled-out, gentle jazz flavours.
That community will therefore be pleased to know that the Okonski collective have just released a new single… ‘Paradiso’ . The cut comes from the band’s ‘Trio Session Demos’ (above) – their first sessions together (prior to ‘Magnolia’) to explore what exactly they could achieve.
Steve says: “Recording these first tracks was incredibly fun and I love how they came out, but it was the end of this session that led us to get out of our comfort zone a bit and explore more of the sounds that ‘Magnolia’ would eventually come from. We are proud to share these initial demos, and to give insight into the experimentation and process that led to ‘Magnolia’.
