NOTHING LESS THAN LOVE…

KEIKO MATSUI is a Japanese smooth jazz pianist whose work is often categorized as  “new age” music because of its reflective, meditative quality. Her latest single offering offers both those qualities but it’s far from “new age”; in fact ‘Love and Nothing Less’ is a classic sophisticated soul artefact.

That’s down to a number of reasons – it’s a beautiful, melodic song, for sure and the production complete with mournful harmonica from Gregoire  Maret) is emotion-stirring but it’s  the guest vocalist who steals the show … a certain LALAH HATHAWAY. Here Ms H’s delivery is both dramatic and impeccable and proves that true soul singers don’t always have to resort to histrionics. The track, by the way, has seen lifted from Ms Matusi’s last album, ‘Euphoria’. Find a full reveow here … https://www.soulandjazzandfunk.com/news/euphoric-2/
