‘Nobody But You’ is the title of an intriguing new single from eclectic Californian band, BRAINSTORY. The outfit comprise brothers Kevin and Tony Martin (on guitar/vocals and bass, respectfully) and Eric Hagstrom (drums) and across the West Coast they’ve won a quite a following for their quirky take on soft rock, harmony pop and blue-eyed soul, and this ‘Nobody But You’ is certainly “quirky” – though not without considerable blue-eyed soul charm
The cut was produced by Leon Michels of El Michels Affair and he and the band deliver a gentle toe-tapper with a motivational message – “nobody will save you but you!”. Sonically think, maybe, Mamas Gun – with some rough edges. It’s out now via Big Crown.
