Philadelphia singer/songwriter, AARON PARNELL BROWN, is currently turning heads and catching ears with his super-soulful, jazz-tinged debut single, ‘Just Leave,’ which SJF’s good friend and fellow soul music buff Toby Walker of www.soulwalking.co.uk described to us as “my favourite track of the year so far.” The track is available from all of the usual download platforms and precedes Aaron’s forthcoming album, entitled ‘The Tin Man,’ which features high calibre sidemman such as Bashiri Johnson and Andy Snitzer, and is produced by Matt Pierson. It’s due for release on 9th May.
Deeply soulful and impressively assured, ‘The Tin Man‘ is only Aaron’s second album. He originally performed under the name Aaron & The Spell and released the long player ‘Sing’ in 2012. Now, though, the Philly-based singer performs under his own name and his voice’s smoky, sanctified timbre has drawn comparisons with Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Frank McComb and John Legend. He’s also picked up some accolades along the way, including winning ‘Soul Artist Of The Year’ award in Philadelphia last year.
Look out for a review of Aaron’s album soon at SJF, with an interview to follow.
