Renowned US bass player, band leader and film composer, KYLE EASTWOOD, returns with his sixth studio album, ‘The View From Here,’ released on the Jazz Village label on March 11th 2013.
It reunites the LA-born Paris-based Eastwood with the talented young British musicians that have been working as his backing band for several years – namely, saxophonist Graeme Blevins, trumpeter Graeme Flowers, keyboardist Andrew McCormack, and drummer, Martin Kaine. An arresting and seamless amalgam of funk, soul, hard bop, and Latin jazz styles, it encapsulates Eastwood’s eclectic sensibility. Says the bassist apropos his new album: “My roots remain in jazz but I like adding all kinds of different flavours.”
We at SJF believe it’s the 44-year-old bassist’s most satisfying long player yet. Look out for a full review soon.
Catch Kyle Eastwood on tour in the UK during May and June 2013. Full details soon.
