The man whose cool trumpet lines put his band Tijuana Brass on the map in the 1960s with a plethora of US pop hits (‘Mexican Shuffle,’ ‘Whipped Cream,’ and ‘Spanish Flea’ amongst them) is back with a new album. It’s called ‘Human Nature’ and comes at a time when 81-year-old Herb Alpert’s complete back catalogue is being revived (as previously reported on SJF). The title song is Alpert’s spin on the popular Michael Jackson associated tune and also includes remakes of songs co-authored by Burt Bacharach. The set’s first single, ‘Doodles,’ is a jaunty dance groove that recaptures the spirit of his old Tijuana Brass records.
The album is released on September 30th via the trumpeter’s own label, Herb Alpert Presents.
