NEW DAVID SANBORN ALBUM DUE IN SEPTEMBER

With his raspy, blues-based attack, DAVID SANBORN possesses one of the most recognisable saxophone sounds in jazz. The 63-year-old Florida-born altoist is back with a new 9-track album out on September 1st via Decca entitled ‘Here & Gone.’ In many ways, the album represents a return to Sanborn’s Hank Crawford-influenced R&B roots and features the saxophonist’s own interpretations of songs like ‘St. Louis Blues’ and ‘Basin St. Blues.’ It also includes striking vocal cameos from Eric Clapton, Joss Stone (on a tremendously soulful revamp of Ray Charles’s ‘I Believe To My Soul’), Derek Trucks and Sam Moore. The album was produced by the legendary mix-board meister, Phil Ramone. Look out for an interview with David Sanborn at www.soulandjazzandfunk.com very soon…
