The late singer/songwriter TEENA MARIE, who died suddenly at the age of 54 on Boxing Day 2011 from a seizure, has a posthumous album (her 21st) out via Universal on January 21st. The album’s called ‘Beautiful’ and is the follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2009 CD, ‘Congo Square,’ on Stax. Apparently, the new album was almost complete at the time of Teena’s death and only required mixing. The completion of the project was overseen by Teena’s surviving daughter, Alia Rose, who also features on the album (on a remake of Curtis Mayfield’s ‘Superfly’ ballad, ‘Give Me Your Love’) alongside cameos from Rick James’s daughter, Ty, who contributes to the track ‘Rare Breed.’ SJF have had a sneak preview of the album already and give a big thumbs up to the project, especially the epic slow-jam, ‘The Long Play.’

Look out for a full review soon at SJF.
