Brit soul and jazz singer LOIS LEVIN is one of the bright lights on Liverpool’s Baltic Jazz Label. The Scouse imprint was set up by garlanded producer Steve Levine. It was Steve who helmed Ms. Levin’s 2023 acclaimed four track EP – ‘Revisioned’. It was lauded for its witty lyricism, jazzy-soul vibe and Ms L’s wonderful emotive vocals. Tracks from the mini album have been a staple on Jazz FM’s A List, received numerous plays on 6 Music, and garnered spot plays on R1 and R2. With sold-out shows both North and South, Lois is rapidly becoming one of the fastest rising stars in British jazz and her Scouse pedigree does her no harm at all!
Lois is currently working on a new EP, ‘Motions’ – due for March ’25 release. We’re told that the set will deal with a host of topics from escaping toxicity, addressing desires, processing grief and literally loving yourself. You can get a flavour of things via the set’s first single- a jazzy, jaunty ‘Call Me Names’. The song’s about controlling behaviour but it’s nor dour and misery laden. Oddly, maybe, it has a joyous sound and, of course, delivered in Lois’ extra special voice.
