The ever-lovely MAYSA has just released her latest long player, the aptly named ‘Music For Your Soul’. It’s the Baltimore’ diva’s 14th solo studio set.
The album was flagged up by a series of tasty singles including January’s ‘I Don’t Mind’ a typical, Maysa, smooth, sultry groove and the album features plenty more quality soul – but you’d except that wouldn’t you?
Right now the focus tracks include a lovely ‘Beautiful’, a gentle, emotion-tugging ballad ‘Time Can Heal A Broken Heart’, a sweet and pleading ‘Just Stay’ and a tougher ‘Down with Me’. This last one is a collaboration with Chris Walker and (spoiler alert!) contains a rap – we’ll wait and see what the soul conservatives make of it!
Other album guests include sax man Kirk Whalum who features on ‘Lord I Thank You’ and Frank McComb who’s on ‘His Love’. There’s also a cover of Phyllis Hyman’s ‘You Know How To Love Me’
