MORE TRUE LOVE…

THE TRUE LOVES are a Seattle based funk and soul combo. The band are now operating as an 8 piece and are working with  Color Red Records for whom they’re preparing an album…  ‘Sunday Afternoon’ – slated for a May release. The set’s last single was the moody, broody instrumental ‘Did It Again’.

The True Loves now follow that with something very similar, another dour, funerary instrumental, ‘Yard Byrds’. The tune was co-written by trombonist Greg Kramer and bassist Bryant Moore with the intent to write a track using just four chords, a descending bass line, and a repeating 8th note pattern à la Dr. Dre. The icing on the cake, they say, is a countermelody played by woodwind section of Gordon Brown on flute/tenor sax and Skerik on baritone saxophone. The band describe ‘Yard Byrds’ thus: “this is a slow and sweet groove with a majestic melody on top. Close your eyes for this one.” Out now!
