At the back end of 2016 we got know all about US muso CLIF PAYNE via his collaboration with ‘Band Of Gold’ lady, Freda Payne (they’re not related by the way). Their tune was a sweet mid tempo groove, ‘No No Pain No Gain’ and it was the focus cut on his ‘Welcome To My World’ LP.

Clif has now released a second full album – imaginatively titled ‘Too’. Produced by Preston Glass and Larry Batiste, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that Ms Payne is on board again. She joins Clif on the duet ‘Yesterday’s Payne, Tomorrow’s Joy’. The album features two mixes of the song – the original and a Nigel Lowis re-tread which pleasantly channels the Stylistics’ ‘Betcha By Golly Wow’. Amongst the album’s other highlights is the smooth title cut, ‘Too’.
